Research
Throughout my career, I have co-designed and conducted research projects focused directly on the needs of companies and schools. The results have been used to produce strategic practitioner and policy-oriented tools, as well as being published in academic journals and as books.
I am professor of sociology at Deakin University in Australia, where I:
- am Head of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences
- Lead research projects
- Mentor early career scholars
My research examines the practices of dominant social classes and high-skilled professional groups: how does internationalisation and mobility mediate the desires and social relations of these highly-resourced groups across different contexts?
In mid-2027, I will publish my latest book, with co-author Karen Lillie, through Princeton University Press. Provisionally titled 'Insecure Wealth', it will examine the trajectories of young people from newly wealthy, Global South families who face the challenge of trying to secure their wealth for the future, through educational and social choices.
